Pedagogical activity

The basis of my didactic activity is the discipline of musical art, specialization: instrumentalism. I specialize in teaching: piano, chamber ensembles and accompaniment. My artistic and research interests include the knowledge related to performing classical music from the baroque to the 21st century.

My special focus is on teaching to play the piano at all possible levels. I have experience in music school education at the 1st and 2nd level, as well as in teaching in art faculties of universities in Poland and abroad and in music academies.

My research interests mostly comprise the issues related to piano art, performance and history of chamber music and the practice of its performance in particular epochs. I am also interested in the psychology of playing in a chamber ensemble, the issues related to education in the field of chamber music, especially piano chamber music. Moreover, my interests comprise the issues of new trends in  performing classical and chamber music.

My passions also involve topics associated with Polish emigration music, the music of Polish-Jewish composers, and the Polish-Jewish dialogue. I am interested in female musical art and the issues related to the influence of classical, chamber and improvised music on child development.

I collaborate with the Association of Polish Instrumental Musicians, with ECMTA (European Chamber Music Teachers Association) and with the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences, MEAKULTURA Foundation.

Individual sessions

“I love working with students, I know that I can share my knowledge and experiences with them and together we can build something unique”

During individual sessions:

N

I show that interpreting music is, in a sense, creating a story, building its dramaturgy in order to convey a certain value to the audience.

N

I tell pupils / students that each piece carries the secret of its creator-composer, behind which there is a collection of emotions, thoughts, feelings, and a range of experiences. The contractor draws from all of them and then processes them in an individual way.

N

I prove that the performance of solo piano music is a joy to create an individual interpretation of a work, to create its course and to build a unique relationship with the recipient.

N

I work on musicality and technique on a repertoire from the baroque to the 21st century.

N

accompany pupils / students in their performance artistic discoveries.

I can work with you on a selected solo repertoire.

My Solo Repertoire.

Sessions for chamber ensembles

“When I conduct chamber ensemble classes, I have goose bumps on my hands, this is my passion”

During sessions for chamber ensembles:

N

I teach how to shape the coordination of melodic, rhythmic and color elements in a chamber piece.

N

I share my knowledge – how to independently prepare an instrumental part and how to be fully oriented in the texture of a chamber piece.

N

I explain how to effectively and creatively practice your part without the participation of co-players.

N

I talk about the challenges related to the creative and partnership attitude of a young artist – a musician in a chamber ensemble.

N

I show a series of exercises on: getting a better “reception” and “transmission” of intentions by the cooperator, for listening together.

And also:

N

I prove that the band is one organism, although each of those who create it – working together has the right to present their musical point of view, introduce a unique, unique and individual character of the game and draw inspiration from a musical partnership.

N

I encourage pupils / students to be inspired by their playing and be inspired by the musical partnership.

N

I introduce students to how they can creatively and consciously use elements of musical expression such as articulation, timbre or register.

N

I reveal what can determine the quality and uniqueness of a joint interpretation in a chamber ensemble.

I am happy to work with you / your ensemble on a selected repertoire for violin and piano, four hands, two pianos, piano trio, piano quartet, piano quintet.

My Repertoire: Chamber Music, Piano Duo.

„The wonderful cooperation with Ms Aleksandra Hałat is related primarily to the subject close to the MEAKULTURA Foundation, which is the work of Polish composers in exile. Valuable texts, passion and creativity are the features that give perspective for our further, equally creative activities.”

Dr Marlena Wieczorek / MEAKULTURA Foundation

„Dr. Aleksandra Hałat in all her artistic activities is guided by care for the preservation of our cultural heritage, and the repertoire choices she makes testify to her extensive knowledge; this outstanding pianist devotes a lot of attention to both the analysis of musical works and learning about their history and the context accompanying their creation.”

Dr hab. Jolanta Guzy-Pasiak / Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences
